Robertson Stephens Brings UBS, Deutsche Firepower To Board

In a move to broaden talent on its parent company board, Robertson Stephens Wealth Management has named Carsten Kengeter, former chair and CEO of UBS Investment Bank, and Raj Bhattacharyya, former head of European and North American capital markets for Deutsche Bank as new board members. Both have since moved prominently into the early-stage investment space. Kengeter is chairman, partner and co-founder of Circuitus Capital, a London-based asset management firm specializing in infrastructure equity investments across Europe and Latin America; and Bhattacharyya is an investor and fintech advisor as founder and CEO of YY Capital. While at Deutsche, Bhattacharyya also ran its Americas foreign exchange and emerging markets business. The two are established industry figures. Kengeter has spent three decades in investment banking, asset management and market infrastructure helping grow global businesses. He previously served as CEO of Deutsche Boerse Group and before that was chair and CEO of UBS Investment Bank. He also sat on the Swiss bank’s group executive board. Prior to UBS, he was a partner and co-head of the securities division Asia at Goldman Sachs. Bhattacharyya has spent 25 years in financial services across trading and capital markets, 17 of those at Deutsche Bank. He has also worked at Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch. The new additions bring the board up to seven members. Besides board chair Bhandari, other members include Stuart Katz, CEO and CIO of Robertson Stephens, and Kipp Nelson, Ranu Dayal and Tobin Whamond from Long Arc Capital. Robertson Stephens WM is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Robertson Stephens Holdings and serves HNWs and family offices from locations in San Francisco, New York, Sun Valley, Idaho; and Holmdel, New Jersey.
